The Rise of Melodic House: Ben Böhmer's Evolution

In recent years, the electronic music landscape has seen a marked incline in the popularity of melodic house music, with record labels like Anjunadeep propelling it to the forefront of the EDM sphere. The genre, defined by its harmonious synths, emotive keys, and atmospheric pads, offers listeners an emotive and immersive auditory experience that's resonating with increasing numbers of fans worldwide.

From the idyllic landscapes of Germany emerged Ben Böhmer, a maestro of this contemporary sound. His musical journey has been nothing short of remarkable, seeing him rise from obscurity to command stages at renowned events like Tomorrowland and ABGT (Above & Beyond Group Therapy) events. Notably, his album "Cercle, Live above Cappadocia" paints a vivid sonic picture of its namesake location, and singles like "Black Hole" with Monolink further solidify his prowess in the realm of melodic house.

However, it's his album "Begin Again" that truly encapsulates his evolution as an artist. As MixMag once eloquently put it, "Böhmer's Begin Again is a symphony of melodic brilliance intertwined with the predictably unpredictable cadence of house." This release signified a shift for Ben - from producing standalone tracks to intricately woven, album-length musical narratives that transport listeners on ethereal journeys.

Böhmer’s genius doesn’t just stop at house music. His ability to infuse varied music idioms like jazz and classical sets him part in the EDM arena. Although his jazz-house single "Dissonances" makes this fusion overt, it's his more subtle incorporations and layering of these genres that set him apart, offering a fresh and invigorating sound to listeners who seek depth in their dance music.

As for what lies ahead for Böhmer, fans can eagerly anticipate his upcoming Portraet tour slated for the early fall. Rumor has it, new album releases are also on the horizon. What's evident is that Ben Böhmer isn’t just an artist to watch; he's defining and refining the future of EDM, promising more great melodic house for enthusiasts everywhere.

Update: Oct 4th, 2023

Ben Böhmer just announced his shift from the Anjunabeats family to Ninja Tune with a new release to hit in mid October.
